Joe sperling posted today on the Assembly bulletin board: “For troubles without number surround me; my sins have overtaken me, and I cannot see. They are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart fails within me” (Psalm 40:12).
“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear, you are more valuable than many sparrows” (Luke 12:7).
The psalmist is exaggerating when he says his troubles are more than the hairs of his head. But even if our troubles could even come close to the amount of hair on our heads, the Lord knows about everyone of them! The very hairs of our heads are all numbered.
Put everything in the Lord’s hands. I need to remind myself of this constantly–we have a tendency to exaggerate our problems, and to limit what God can do, and how much He cares about us!!!
“Humble yourselves therefore under the Mighty hand of God, and He will exalt you in due time. Cast all your cares upon Him, because He cares for you” (1 Pet. 5:7).
